Team Petty

There are many times in my life that I am just in awe of the friends and family I tnt_dad_2-1.jpghave around me and this blog is to tell you about a friend’s love and admiration for her father. My friend, Denise’s father was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia called Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia in 2006. The life expectancy for most patients is 18-24 months but, with the help of a drug called Gleevec along with lots of prayers, her father has surpassed all expectations and is doing well. To honor her father, Denise and her sister Linda have been training for a triathlon on behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, both sisters have raised $2,600 for the cause. This weekend I will be in Galveston very proudly standing by Denise’s family as both sisters go through the grueling and lengthy triathlon, all for the love of their father, once again I am in awe of a friend…

If you’d like to donate to the cause, you can send checks made out to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in care of Denise Petty to 3900 Barnett St. /Fort Worth/TX 76103

Kudos to Denise and Linda! I have known Denise and Linda for many years and I know that a triathlon is not something that neither of them would even consider tackling. But, their dedication and love for their father is something to admire. Best of luck to you Denise and Linda!

I too am amazed at this incredible woman whom I have come to know very well. She is so committed and passionate about life. Denise has put all of herself into this benefit triathalon for her dad. She has swam in freezing cold water, rode her old centurion bike with pride (admist all the mocking) and done it all with a great smile and attitude in a way that Denise does so well. I have also had the fortunate experience of meeting Denise’s father. It is not hard to see where she acquires her greatness from! You are awesome and wish you well in the triathalon!!!
